The family wanted to thank those who have offered their sincere thoughts and words of comfort. They are truly grateful.

It was 22 years ago today we lost our daughter, Rebekah. News of your tragedy has spread throughout the City of Hurst and our Theater. We miss you and pray for the strength we know you have to endure this.

Yesterday, our granddaughter Erikah, 8 months, received a liver donated from a 10 year old whose family had the benevolence to save another child's life during such a trying time. As the Eternal thread weaves through our existence here on earth, all these things shall give us experience.

Dear Howard and Adams families,

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to elementary school with Janine and we were in the same ward for many years while we were growing up. I remember that Janine was always so sweet and kind. She was such a wonderful person.

I pray that you can have strength during this tragedy.

The Howard Family,

As part of your Hurst family we only caught glimpses of you in the Stake Center halls as we moved into the 1st ward.

But our hearts have been full and heavy this past weekend while we have pondered on this tragedy. You have been on our minds so much we feel a close bond and kinship with you developing.

We are holding onto our testimony and faith that families truly are together forever, and all things are in the hands of a Father in Heaven whose love and care for His children are greater than our mortal understanding can comprehend.

We are here for you in every way we can be. Please know your entire Hurst ward family is.

Dear Ben,

We were so sad to hear about this terrible loss. Janine was a great friend of mine and I really loved her. As I once told her, she played a large role in my joining the church. She taught me so many things and was a role model to me as a mother. She seemed to me to be such an expert at teaching her children the gospel. I was so sad to move away from her last year. I have really missed her. She was an amazing woman. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Ben,
Please know my prayers are with you and your family. I feel so priviledged to have TAed you and Janine during your initial Choices experience and then to share the room as a TA with you later. Getting to know you and Janine has been a blessing in my life. I think I know your mindset well enough to say I know you'll get through this and continue to be a blessing to your children.
God you man.

I'm so sorry about your tragedy. I in fact went to school with Rachel in 5th and 6th grade. We were in the same class in 5th grade, but in 6th grade we were in different classes. I pray that Rachel and Caleb get better.

Dear Ben,
We just heard of your tragedy, words cannot express our sympathy for your family. We enjoyed seeing your family when you passed thru Idaho from time to time. We know you are one of the truly strong, as God does not give us trials more than we are able to bear. Very glad that you were able to donate Esther's organs. We are praying for you, Rachel and Caleb. May you have strength and peace as you go forward with the funerals. We wish we could be there for support. Know that our hearts and love are with you.

Dear Ben and family,

We are horribly saddened by your loss. Even though we aren't in Texas anymore and haven't seen you in sometime, we still thought of you often as your family was a great example in our lives.
I had two impressions of Janine just Friday morning before I'd received the news, remembering her yummy bread and how good she was at budgeting! She was so focused on her family and the Lord. I can think of nobody more ready to stand before him.
Our girls remember the sweet, fun spirit of your home and also getting to play with your kids when Janine and Rachel came over for music lessons. Those impressions have lasted years in their young minds.
We are grateful for this website that has allowed us to send a message to you. Please know that our family is thinking of you and praying for your strength.
Love, Darrin and Jill

I want you to know how much the River Trails Ward is mourning and praying for you. Your family was so welcoming to ours when we moved into the ward; Brooklyn still talks about how much fun we had at your home. Your faith and forgiveness will get Rachel and Caleb through this life until you can all be together again. I wish you didn't have to go through this, but some day it will be all right again.

My purpose in writing this is two fold. First of all, I too was in a car accident with a Traumatic Brain injury. I had a blood clot in my brain which caused my left side to be paralyzed. I wear a brace on my left leg and have a slight limp and my arm doesn't work. But I still feel very blessed because I have my mental capacities but i live by mysylf and work and do everything that all that everyonelse does, except athletically of course. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is life after Head injuries!!
The second thing is that I personally know the young man in the other car and I want you to know that you couldn't find a better young man. I appreciate how you've showed him the forgiveness that you have! you are an amazing example to us all!!

Time doesn't erase pain. But I hope that time has eased some of yours. Remember there are those of us who will never forget.

Strangely, sometimes in death, special people touch the lives of many who they would never have known in life. Your wife and children were very beautiful. They are among those special people. May they shine even brighter. Love always survives death.

I am one of the many who has been touched by your family's tragedy. I wish you and your family joy, love, and hope. Others care. May God be with you.
